Why the Firesafe Cannula Valve?
The Firesafe Cannula Valve’s thermal fuse ensures safe oxygen therapy. This fuse is suitable for oxygen concentrators and cylinders that provide a continuous flow of oxygen. Oxygen and fire are a dangerous combination as oxygen accelerates fire. When a flame enters oxygen tubing, fire can occur and spread rapidly, even into your concentrator, or worse, oxygen cylinder.
In case of fire, the produced heat makes the Firesafe thermal fuse melt together, blocking the oxygen flow and preventing fire from spreading and reaching your oxygen source. This way you and your loved ones or other residents are protected from potential injury and the size of the fire and cost of restoration is minimised. A firebreaker like the Firesafe is mandatory for homecare use in the UK and Germany.
Connecting the Firesafe Cannula Valve
The thermal fuse is very easy to place. Simply place it between the oxygen hose and nasal cannula. This updated version has equal ends: it doesn't matter which side you put in the nasal cannula or oxygen tube. The valve has a hook for a safety pin, so that you can attach it to your clothing.
