During the coronavirus pandemic, infrared thermometers are widely used as a screening tool for fever.¹ Fever is one of the main symptoms of the new coronavirus (COVID-19). The thermometer is compact and handy. It weighs only 130 grams: as light as a feather. Take it with you wherever you want!

Measuring the body temperature: non-contact, hygienic and fast

The Contec TP500 measures the body temperature by the radiation from the forehead. Simply turn on the Contec infrared thermometer by pressing the button. Hold it by the forehead, no more than 3 centimeters from the skin. This allows you to take a precise and non-contact measurement. Press the power button again. In less than a second, the body temperature is accurately displayed.

Results on the LCD display

Is the body temperature below 37.6 ° C? In that case, the display has a blue colour. The display turns yellow between 37.6 ° C and 38.4 ° C. The notification "Body Temp Hi" is displayed. This temperature shows that the person has a mild fever. If the body temperature is higher than 38.4 ° C, the display turns red. Again, the message "Body Temp Hi" appears on the screen. Thanks to the bright LCD display, you can easily measure in the dark.

Tip: Position the infrared thermometer between the eyebrows for a very accurate measurement.

Efficient and easy to use

The Contec TP500 switches off automatically after use, which makes it very energy efficient. Would you like to have an overview of your latest measurements? Turn the sound on or off? Switch between the body and object function? Press the power button for a few seconds to enter the internal memory. Press the power button once again for a few seconds in order to display the menu. Then briefly press the power button to navigate through the menu.

Also useful for measuring the temperature of liquids

This infrared thermometer also has a mode for measuring the temperature of liquids. Go to the menu, choose 'mode' and select 'obj' (object). This function is especially useful for bringing formula or bath water to the desired temperature.
