Safe and comfortable to use

This product from Salter Labs consists of an adhesive strip and 2 Velcro securement loops. The hydrocolloid material of the strip is suitable for sensitive skin. There is no skin friction, because the nasal cannula is placed on the adhesive strip and not on the skin itself. Sticky Whiskers allows you to secure the nasal cannula safely and comfortably!

Securing the nasal cannula on a baby or newborn

Cleaning the skin

First of all, clean the baby's skin with a damp cloth and allow the skin to dry before applying the adhesive strip.

Wrapping the securement loops around the cannula

Wrap the Velcro loops around the nasal cannula: one loop on both sides of the prongs.

Placing the adhesive strip and securing the nasal cannula

You can apply the Sticky Whiskers adhesive strip horizontally between the upper lip and the nose of the baby or newborn. The curved side of the strip should face down (towards the upper lip), the straight side towards the nose. Gently rub the strip with your finger to ensure optimal attachment to the skin. Then place the nasal cannula with the Velcro loops around it on the Sticky Whiskers adhesive strip and gently press it all together.

Securing the nasal cannula again

You can 'lift' the nasal cannula (with the loops around it) and place it again. While lifting the nasal cannula, hold your finger on the end of the adhesive strip so that the adhesive strip itself doesn’t come loose.

Replacing Sticky Whiskers

The adhesive strip provides adhesion for 24 to 36 hours. Do you notice that the strip starts to come loose? Then replace the strip and the securement loops immediately. They’ll also need to be replaced regularly for hygienic reasons.
