Why the HUM Fingertip Suction Stop?
A suction pump such as the DeVilbiss VacuAide should be used with a patient tubing and a suction catheter. A suction catheter allows you to remove secretions such as mucus. You should place a fingertip suction stop between the patient tubing and the suction catheter, as a sort of connector piece. Keep your finger on the opening to start removing secretions and lift your finger to stop the suction process. Would you like to use the machine continuously? Then close the opening of the suction stop with the valve on the side. The HUM fingertip suction stop has a sterile package.
