Different types of CPAP masks
To get the most out of your sleep therapy, it is very important to choose a sleep apnea mask that fully meets your personal needs. The perfect mask depends, among other things, on the way you breathe (through your nose or through your mouth), your position in bed and your facial contours. All apnea masks in our range are comfortable and offer you optimal freedom of movement. They have a good fit, making leaks and irritations a thing of the past. Moreover, they are easy to take with you on a trip, so that you can also enjoy comfortable CPAP therapy when you’re on holiday. The frame and nasal pillows of the Philips DreamWear masks are available in different sizes. The hose connection in this series is located / placed at the top of the head; the hose connection of the SleepWeaver Advance CPAP mask is on the front.
Nasal mask
Most sleep apnea patients who use a CPAP breathe through their nose and therefore benefit most from a CPAP nasal mask. Your nose is covered by a cap, or there is a soft cushion at the bottom of your nose. Examples of a nasal mask are the Philips DreamWear Under the Nose mask (which makes almost no contact with your skin) and the Circadiance SleepWeaver mask (made of soft fabric).
Nasal pillows mask
The nasal pillows mask (also called ‘intranasal mask’) is also a nasal mask, but with this type there are two gel cushions under your nostrils. Thanks to these gel cushions, you will always have a pleasant night’s sleep. The chance of leaks is kept to a minimum. Because a nasal pillows mask does not cover your entire nose, this is the smallest mask with a minimal impact on your field of vision. This type of mask is not recommended for higher therapy pressures.
Full face mask
Do you sleep with your mouth open? Then it is highly recommended to wear a CPAP full face mask that covers both your nose and your mouth. This mask is also very suitable if you have a cold, suffer from allergies or when you have a high CPAP therapy pressure. The Philips DreamWear Full Face mask can be used up to 30 cm H2O.
Please note that it is very important to clean your CPAP mask on a regular basis to prevent infections. That’s why we’ve included hygiene products in our range!
